The Challenges and Prospects of Inland Waterway Transportation System of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is crisscrossed by rivers and inland waterways have been playing a significant role to the transportation of goods. For nation’s economic prospects it very important develop systems in Bangladesh. But are facing challenges due many problems spite having good prospects. Therefore, objective study examine present IWT systems, its how can contribute more than others our national economy. this paper mainly based on secondary data. The data collected from journal papers, internet, newspaper, books, articles. Data also gathered different maritime authority’s website. research findings indicate that Bangladeshi huge prospects, but lack knowledge gap current condition navigability, not conducting hydrographic survey after 1989, poor management, inadequate port facilities, low quality vessel connectivity reasons for all problem.
